15 September 2015. Markus Brönnimann has been Executive Director of the University of St.Gallen for almost ten years. During this time, he has been able to achieve important results for the HSG. Thus the University was able to cope with the growing number of students in terms of both infrastructure and funding, to implement an appropriate planning and control system and to advance the multiannual performance agreement to implementation stage. Brönnimann was also crucially involved in drawing up a real-estate strategy with a view to the planned extension of the University.

Change in structures

Owing to the HSG’s increase in size and the concomitant changes, as well as a progressive professionalisation of university structures in the international competition in the field of education, the President’s Board intends to review and adjust the management of the HSG and the responsibility of the President’s Board and the Administration. This process was launched in the summer and has not yet reached its conclusion. It is becoming apparent, however, that the executive of the Administration will be less centralised.

Interim Director

Against this background, Markus Brönnimann has decided to take new professional bearings and to meet another new challenge. He will step down from his position as Executive Director on 30 September 2015. For the time being, his post will be filled by his previous deputy and Head of Finance, Stefan Schneider. The post of Executive Director, which will have to be redefined, will be advertised in due time.

Markus Brönnimann announced his decision at the first Senate Meeting at the beginning of the Autumn Semester on 14 September 2015. The University Management would like to thank him for his commitment and the great services he has rendered to the HSG and wishes him all the best for the future.
