2 December 2013. Senior academic leaders from the HSG sat down with a delegation from Sultan Qaboos University (SQU), the only public university in the Sultanate of Oman. As a relatively young university founded in 1986, leaders and academics from Oman wanted to focus on globalisation, exchange ideas and look at how different programmes, such as the MBA and EMBA, organise themselves.
The two parties were brought together by Mr. Jean-Pierre Hocké, a former Swiss Ambassador to the region. HSG Vice Rector Professor Dr. Ulrike Landfester noted that internationalization is an important part of the HSG’s philosophy, which is why they have partnered with over 150 universities around the globe with universities in Dubai and Kuwait among them.

Sultan Qaboos University is the realization of the promise announced by His Majesty Sultan Qaboos Bin Said during the 10th anniversary of Oman’s National Day in 1980. Construction started in 1982 and 500 students were enrolled in 1986. Currently the university has over 17,000 students enrolled.
Since 1898, the University of St.Gallen has been one of Europe’s leading business universities. Located in eastern Switzerland, the University offers degrees and executive education at the highest international level. With over 7,500 students the school offers degrees in Business Administration, Economics, Law, Social Sciences and International Affairs, not to mention MBA and EMBA executive education programmes.
