12 September 2018. The Sitterwerk Foundation comprises an art library, a material archive, a studio house and the Kesselhaus Josephsohn. It is complemented by an art foundry and a photo lab. In this way, it constitutes an institutional centre for artists and for companies operating in the field of culture. In addition, the Sitterwerk is looking for new approaches to an exciting communication of knowledge, handicraft and art.

This knowledge will be communicated to the audience of the public programme of the University of St.Gallen by representatives of the various divisions of the Sitterwerk. The lecture series will start on 19 September 2018 with a visit to the material archive and the studio house. Julia Lütolf, head of the material archive, and Duscha Kistler, manager of the Sitterwerk Foundation, will provide an on-site insight into the creative work done in the Sitter Valley.

How will we classify and store knowledge in the future? What can be developed from a combination of digital technologies and a primarily analogue collection of books and materials? On 26 September, Roland Früh, the head of the art library, will answer these questions and provide an overview of innovative perspectives in the use of libraries. Also, he will explain the dynamic organisation of the Sitterwerk art library. This lecture will take place on the HSG campus.

The series will be concluded by Ulrich Meinherz, manager of the Kesselhaus Josephsohn, on 3 October, again on the Rosenberg. He will look into the question as to how Josephsohn's estate can be managed in the spirit of the artist himself and of contemporary awareness. Additionally, he will show how one of Josephsohn's works is integrated in the HSG’s art collection.
