13 October 2011. The five-part lecture series is the result of cooperation between representatives of the municipal administration, the Addiction Aid Foundation and the University of St.Gallen (HSG). The first and last lectures will take place at the HSG; on the other evenings, hosts and guests will discuss their topics in various places in the City of St.Gallen. The discussions from five perspectives are intended to encourage citizens to become involved in their urban living space and to help shape it. The lectures will start at 8.15 p.m. on Mondays.

From architecture to psychology
Municipal Councillor Elisabeth Beéry will launch the series, debating the topic of “Architecture/urban planning” with Zurich’s “city walker” Benedikt Loderer (24 October, Audimax, Room 09-010). The second round of discussions – this time on “Philosophy” – will feature Municipal Councillor Nino Cozzio and Prof. Dr. Annemarie Pieper, Professor of Philosophy at the University of Basel (7 November, Post Building opposite St.Gallen Main Railway Station). On the third evening, Pastor Hansruedi Felix will discuss “Psychology” with Prof. Dr. Verena Kast, a psychologist/psychotherapist (14 November, St.Mangen Church).

Finale with Roman Signer

Mayor Thomas Scheitlin will be joined by Prof. Dr. Thomas Bieger, President of the HSG, for the fourth dialogue, which will focus on “Politics/law/economy” (21 November, Rathaus St.Gallen). A striking finale will be staged by the St.Gallen artist Roman Signer with an artistic performance in the Audimax. On the same evening, Cantonal Minister Kathrin Hilber will speak about “Art and culture in public spaces” with Prof. Dr. Peter Nobel, Chairman of the HSG’s Art Committee (28 November, Audimax).
