22 February 2018. Mobility is constantly developing: from horse-drawn carriages to railways, then to cars. Digitisation does not stop at mobility. Thus various firms are working on a completely autonomous vehicle. What will change, however, if the car chauffeurs us on its own? What will a city have to look like then? These questions will be answered in the public lecture series on the "Mobility of the future".

Car-free days as an experimental laboratory?
The series will be launched by Prof. Dr. Walter Brenner on 28 February. The Professor of Business IT will provide the introduction to the series. In addition, he will reveal the difference between automated and automatic cars and what it means when we are transported by a car without a driver. The second evening will be devoted to car-free days. On 7 March, Clemens Wäger, CEO of slowUp, will answer the question as to whether the "slowUp" could be an "experimental laboratory" for new forms of mobility. On 14 March, the focus will be on a political perspective. Dr. Markus Liechti from the Federal Office of Transport will shed light on transport from an intermodal angle.

Excursion to St.Gallen's municipal transport services
On 21 March, the spotlight will be on history. Prof. Dr. Christian Laesser, Associate Professor of Business Administration with special focus on Tourism and Service Management, will deal with the development trajectories of our mobility and demonstrate that the mobility of the future raises more questions than answers. On 28 March, the audience will be provided with an overview of the "future of mobility" from the point of view of St.Gallen's municipal transport services (VBSG). Dr. Ralf Eigenmann, CEO of VBSG, will be the host of an on-site excursion. The last evening lecture, on 11 April, will be given by Dr. Christian J. Jenny. The business IT specialist and former HSG lecturer collects cars and will consider how the collectors tradition will fare in the future.
