20 October 2014. In Thomas Glavinic’s novel, Jonas participates in an expedition to the peak of Mount Everest. During the agonising ascent, he dwells on his memories: his wild youth, the cruel fate of his brother Mike, his endless travels to Havana, Tokyo, Jerusalem and Oslo – and finally his magical encounter with Marie, his great love, who changes his whole life.

Two film versions

Thomas Glavinic was born in Graz in 1972. His first novel, "Carl Haffners Liebe zum Unentschieden", was published in 1998 and was followed by "Die Arbeit der Nacht" (2006), "Das bin doch ich" (2007), "Das Leben der Wünsche" (2009) and "Das grössere Wunder" (2013), among others. His novels "Der Kameramörder" (2001) and "Wie man leben soll" (2004) were made into films.

Award-winning writer

Thomas Glavinic’s novels "Das bin doch ich" and "Das Leben der Wünsche" were nominated for the German Book Prize. Most recently he was awarded to Literary Prize of the Kulturkreis der deutschen Wirtschaft. His novels have been translated into 18 languages. The writer lives in Vienna.
