17 June 2010. One of the objectives to be pursued by the representation is to make the HSG and its strengths better known in Brazil and in the other regions of Latin America, and to promote academic exchanges with Latin American universities.

The new HSG hub in São Paulo is located on the premises of the Swiss-Brazilian Chamber of Commerce (Swisscam). It is intended to enable our University to reinforce contacts to its – by now – 17 partner universities all over Latin America even more. The office will also serve to intensify relations with Latin America’s academic community, with the numerous Swiss enterprises in the region, with business partners and with HSG Alumni, thus enhancing the HSG’s reputation at the same time. An HSG Alumni Club has already been established in Brazil.

The new HSG hub underlines the significance of Latin America in the systematic and continual internationalization of the University of St.Gallen. Latin America has a promising future – Brazil, Mexico and Argentina are among the world’s 20 strongest national economies, and other countries are developing at a brisk pace. Many Swiss companies have been represented in the region for a long time.

Hubs are important instruments of our University’s internationalization strategy. The HSG has been successfully operating a representation in Singapore ever since 2006; this hub supervises and promotes a number of international cooperation ventures in teaching, executive education, research and exchange.
