The HSG as an employer

On 19 August 2016, the third edition of the ProOst series of events will be taking place in St.Gallen. The HSG will present itself as an employer, on the one hand, and as one of the biggest providers of further education in Eastern Switzerland, on the other hand.

15 August 2016. Many graduates of institutes of tertiary education and universities look for their first employers in Switzerland’s big centres. After some years of seeking professional experience far and wide, issues such as family and children, a home of their own and also the much-vaunted work/life balance become more important. And this transitional stage is where ProOst comes in.

The event is intended to provide specialists and executives with an overview of the attractive jobs offered by multinational and regional employers in the Cantons of St.Gallen, Thurgau, Appenzell Ausserrhoden and Appenzell Innerrhoden, as well as illustrating the high quality of life in this region. It will take place in the Einstein Congress Centre in St.Gallen on Friday, 19 August 2016.

The HSG – employer and provider of executive education

As one of Europe’s leading business universities, the University of St.Gallen is among Eastern Switzerland’s biggest workplaces. Its staff experience the HSG as a university with a family feeling in a city with a family feeling – and simultaneously as an “enterprise” in which everyone works together to ensure that the University of St.Gallen will remain an attractive employer.

The University also offers a highly international and an (not least for this reason) interesting environment with a great deal of leeway and pioneering spirit. Thanks to their work with students, members of staff discover exciting and varied areas of work within the HSG, whether in teaching, in one of the institutes and research units, in the field of executive education or in administration.

Executive education has had a long tradition at the HSG. The institutes, and primarily also the Executive School, are the University’s platform for executive education courses in the fields of Business Administration, Economics, Law, Social Science and International Affairs. Here, the focus is on the encouragement of life-long learning at all career levels. The University offers an MBA, an Executive MBA, a wealth of open and tailor-made programmes: whether full-time or part-time, in German or in English, and for studies in Switzerland or around the globe.

Two pillars of executive education

Executive education at the University of St.Gallen is based on two pillars: for one thing, highly qualified teachers who play a pioneering part in disciplines such as leadership, finance, strategy, as well as technology and economics; for another, thinking in terms of partnership. The HSG cultivates very close relationships with business and society. Most faculty members at the University have wide-ranging practical experience and a wealth of industrial knowledge.

ProOst is a joint initiative of the St.Gallen Bodensee Area (SGBA) region, which acts as an umbrella organisation for the promotional activities of the Cantons of St.Gallen, Thurgau, Appenzell Ausserrhoden and Appenzell Innerrhoden, on the one hand, and is complemented by partners from business and education, on the other hand. The University of St.Gallen is also a member of the SGBA.
