26 October 2010. The HSG concept of a lecture series meandering through the Canton hasclearly established itself well. In this semester, the University of St.Gallen will address the students and faculty of the Berufs- und WeiterbildungszentrumRapperswil and the general public of the municipality of Rapperswil-Jona.
The town on the cantonal border appears to be a particularly appropriate place for a contribution to a discussion of the economic and demographic significance of greater regions in Switzerland. In Rapperswil-Jona, the divergence of functional space and institutional border can be recognised more palpably than elsewhere: there is a dichotomy between the municipality’s political affiliation, on the one hand, and its economic and cultural orientation towards Greater Zurich, on the other.
The series “A Switzerland of the regions – a future for this country” will start on Tuesday, 2 November 2010, at 5.45 p.m., in theAulaof theBerufs- und WeiterbildungszentrumRapperswil. Any further information and dates can be found on pp. 18/19 of the HSG’s public lecture course brochure for autumn 2010.
