Professionalizing the work of board of directors in Switzerland

Board work is complex and all-encompassing. Doing justice to these responsible tasks require in-depth professional knowledge. SIX Swiss Exchange and the Institute of Public Finance, Fiscal Law and Law and Economics at the University of St.Gallen have developed the education program "Board Essentials" to foster board work practices in Switzerland.

Board work is complex. SIX Swiss Exchange and the IFF-HSG have developed the education program "Board Essentials" to foster board work practices in Switzerland.

The program "Board Essentials" offers the latest insights not only on regulatory changes, but also on practical and innovative governance topics. "With our initiative, we want to make a relevant contribution to good corporate governance practice and professionalize board work in Switzerland," emphasize Prof. Dr. Michèle Sutter-Rüdisser and Dr. Cornel Germann from the Institute of Public Finance, Fiscal Law and Law. "Board Essentials" targets senior board members and senior executive members of a SIX Swiss Exchange stock-listed or large Swiss company.

The key points of the "Board Essential" program are to address innovative topics, to derive strategic-practical recommendations for action and to point out new regulatory changes. All to promote "Good Corporate Governance". Other topics include: Board Sustainability Strategy, Board Digitalization and Transformation, Board Nomination and Remuneration, Board Resilience, Board Finance, Board Risk Management and Audit, Board Engagement.
The board program has eight modules and will take place from October 2023 to June 2024 at SIX Swiss Exchange in Zurich and at the University of St.Gallen. Highly qualified experts and speakers from academia and practice contribute to the unique learning experience.
