Pellens awarded Dr. Kausch-Preis

Prof. Dr. Bernhard Pellens, Bochum, will be awarded the 2009 Dr. Kausch-Preis at the University St.Gallen (HSG) for the promotion of research and practice in the field of financial and industrial accounting.

Prof. Dr. Bernhard Pellens. Bild: Uni Bochum11 March 2010. The public award ceremony will take place on 18 March 2010 at the HSG. The prize amounts to CHF 100,000. According to Prof. Dr. Carl Helbling, the chairman of the jury, the Dr. Kausch-Preis is the richest prize in the field of accountancy. The Dr. Kausch-Preis has been awarded annually in German-speaking Europe ever since 1984.

Implementation of international standards
Bernhard Pellens’s research and teaching focuses on a wide variety of issues in the fields of accounting, corporate governance and the capital market. For his services to the implementation of the international financial reporting standards, Prof. Dr. Bernhard Pellens, Bochum, will be awarded the 2009 Dr. Kausch-Preis.

Habilitated at the University of Bochum
Bernhard Pellens began his academic education with a degree course in Law and Economics at the Universities of Cologne and Bochum. Following a research assistantship and practical experience in management accounting in a medium-sized enterprise, he obtained a doctor’s degree. Pellens habilitated at the Ruhr-Universität Bochum.

After working at the Chair of Financial and Management Accounting at the University of Kaiserslauten, and at the University of Münster, where he was the Director of the Chair of International Corporate Accounting, he took over the Chair of International Corporate Accounting at the University of Bochum from September 1997.
