After the failure of the framework agreement, the fronts between Switzerland and the European Union seemed to harden. The current opportunity barometer therefore asked the Swiss population about their attitude toward future cooperation with the EU. It shows that the Swiss would be quite prepared to compromise on points of contention previously considered non-negotiable. Furthermore, the results make clear that Switzerland could also help shape a relationship with the EU beyond a special path, but also beyond full membership.
