6 September 2016. Unisport will familiarise visitors to the Museum Night with three types of exercise: capoeira, golf and a healthy posture in everyday life.

Capoeira is a Brazilian war dance which was developed by slaves shipped in from Africa during Brazil’s colonial era. It is regarded as a way of learning about skills essential for life and survival which enhances the dancers’ personality and tranquillity.

Precision art is an essential prerequisite for gold. An indoor driving range will be set up in the Library Building, either for a first contact with golf or a few skilful drives by regular players.

The art of movement is an everyday topic. Exhibitions about skilful movement and physical posture teach visitors to pay deliberate attention to a healthy body posture in everyday working life.

By way of refreshment, the University will offer a healthy snack with oats and chia seeds.

Guided art and architecture tours of the campus

The HSG and the proArt student association will conduct various guided tours to draw visitors’ attention to art and architecture in the HSG’s Main and Library Buildings. The University’s Main Building is regarded as an important construction of the 1960s. Whereas in that building, art plays a counterpoint to architecture, works of art and an architectural diversity of forms complement each other in a narrative fashion. Visitors to the Museum Night can expect to see works by artists in the orbit of Surrealism, painting and sculptures by representatives of Neo-Expressionism, the Italian Transavanguardia, as well as contemporary works of art.

The art tours will take place at 6, 8 and 10 p.m. and the architectural tours at 5, 7 and 9 p.m. Both tours will last about 45 minutes.

Treasure hunt for children

Children can expect a varied programme: they will be able to go on a treasure hunt in and around the Library. Children will be able to join the game in small groups between 5 and 8 p.m. The programme will take between 45 and 60 minutes. Children will be accompanied by trained assistant staff. Of course, parents will also be able to join in if they so wish. Registration is not required.

St.Gallen Museum Night

The St.Gallen Museum Night takes place annually in September and will be run under the motto "The Museum Night plays" this year. It will take place on 10 September from 5 p.m. to 1 a.m. 34 museums and galleries in and around St.Gallen will participate in it, and varied programmes await all their visitors. A ticket for the Museum Night costs CHF 20.00 and will enable holders to be admitted to all the museums and galleries involved. Tickets can be purchased at the advance booking offices or, during the Museum Night, at the University. For children and young people up to 16 years of age, admission will be free.

The tickets for the Museum Night will entitle holders to use the shuttle bus and the circular-route bus within the entire Ostwind Zone 210 (including Nachtwind surcharge). During the Museum Night, the HSG can be reached by the No. 5 bus (Rotmonten) at 20-minute intervals.
