29 October 2009. On 6 November 2009 from 5.00-8.00 p.m. the Good Energies Chair for the Management of Renewable Energies at the Institute for Economy and the Environment at the University of St. Gallen (IWÖ-HSG) will offer a series of lectures on “Solar energy – what is required above and beyond technology?”. The event will take place in the context of the “Technology Days”.

Three lectures
In three specialist lectures, the experts will explain how the share of renewable energies, particularly solar energy, can be distinctly increased through an interaction between private investments, consumer behavior and effective energy policies.

The speakers will be Prof. Dr. Rolf Wüstenhagen (Good Energies Chair for the Management of Renewable Energies), Prof. DI MAAS Peter Droege (Professor at the Institute of Architecture and Planning of the Hochschule Liechtenstein) and Jeremy Leggett (Solar Century, Founder and Executive Chairman).

Effective technologies already exist
Effective technologies on the basis of renewable energies already exist. Driving the industry of renewable energies forward, however, requires close cooperation between actors from politics, trade and industry, and research, as well as a broad section of the general public. Particularly in times of an economic and financial crisis, it is important to counter the challenges of this industry with effective and sustainable measures.

This is what will be championed by this year’s “Technology Days” under the auspices of Moritz Leuenberger. From 5-15 November, institutions and enterprises will be offering lectures and events on the topic of renewable energies on a total of 20 occasions throughout Switzerland. The program will be launched with a panel discussion in the Auditorium Maximum of the ETH Zurich on 5 November 2009.
