Kausch prize for Prof. Wagenhofer

Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. Alfred Wagenhofer will be awarded the 2013 Dr Kausch Prize at the University of St.Gallen (HSG) for the promotion of research and practice in the field of financial and operational accounting.

29 November 2013. Alfred Wagenhofer will be awarded the prize for his services to theoretical and empirical research for the development of external and internal accounting.

The new prizewinner was born in Vienna in 1959 and obtained his doctor’s degree from the University of Vienna in 1984. In 1990, he habilitated in General Business Administration at the Vienna University of Technology. In 2007, he was awarded an Honorary Doctorate in Economic Sciences (Dr. oec. publ. h.c.) by the Business Administration Faculty of Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität in Munich. Wagenhofer has been a full professsor at the Institute of Accounting and Control at the University of Graz, and since 2006 also Director of the Center for Accounting Research at the University of Graz.

Besides his many books, editorships and papers, it is the books on external and internal accounting that he co-authored with Ralf Ewert which deserve special mention. They are used at several universities in the German-speaking area.

The prizewinner was announced at the Conference on Group Accounting in Frankfurt on 29 November 2013. The public award ceremony will take place at the University of St.Gallen (HSG) on 27 February 2014.

The prize has been awarded annually ever since 1984.
