16 April 2009. The 16th International Competition Law Forum (ICF) will be held in the Chamber of the Cantonal Parliament of St.Gallen, Switzerland. Considered to be Europe's lead event in the field of competition law, experts will inter alia debate the issue of how market-controlling corporations’ abuse of power can be checked.
Competition issues facing the banking sector
Particularly topical at this year's conference will be the problems the European pharmaceutical sector faces regarding competitive practices, and the competition issues facing the banking sector in a newly-arranged market since the recent government bail-outs.
Swiss competiton law
Moreover, the Forum will be devoted to the relations between cartel offices and courts of justice, as well as to the increasingly economic orientation of European competition law. On Thursday, 23 April 2009, ICF founder and University of St.Gallen professor, Dr. Carl Baudenbacher, will submit the revision of Swiss competition law to discussion.
