29 April 2021. The Global Case Competition at Harvard is one of the most renowned and largest case competitions for students worldwide. This year, where 147 teams competed virtually, a team of HSG students particularly impressed the jury with their arguments. Giuseppe Baccaro, Clemens Finke, Thibaud Mottier, Julien Schaer and Tabea Spors, all of whom are studying business administration at the bachelor level at the HSG, took silver.

The case presented to them dealt with the potential merger of the two graphics card manufacturers "Nvidia" and "AMD". The HSG team, which competed under the name "Alpine Advisory" (referring to their Swiss origin) persuaded the jury by developing a comprehensive investment strategy for both companies, which refrained from a merger.

Extracurricular commitment as the basis for success

The five students see the reason for their success in their complementary skills, which they acquired both while pursuing their studies and by participating in various extracurricular activities and associations at the HSG. They got to know each other at the weekly meeting at the Consulting Club and since then, they have participated in various case competitions together and have become a well-established team.

As one of the top three teams in the competition, the students will now receive a place in the Harvard Mini-MBA program, which will take place this summer. Until then, however, the students must now focus again on their studies and upcoming exams. They do not yet know whether they will participate in further case competitions next year or whether they will devote themselves to other challenges. However, they want to keep their motto beyond the competition: "Strive For More".
