4 June 2009. Swiss companies are regarded as particularly reliable, their products as being of high quality. They do not, however, have a reputation for being extremely innovative. A study of the Center for Innovation of the University of St.Gallen (HSG) and of htp St.Gallen Managementberatung has now investigated the perception of Swiss companies’ innovative power for the first time ever.

Nestlé on first place
The first place among the total of 790 companies that were included in the ranking is occupied by Nestlé with Nespresso, followed by Swatch and Logitech. Migros – as the first company almost exclusively operating in Switzerland – came fourth. 220 CEOs and business division heads in Switzerland were interviewed.

Excellent reputation
The fact that Swiss companies, products and services enjoy an excellent reputation both at home and abroad was already revealed by Swissness Worldwide, a study which the University of St.Gallen (HSG) produced in cooperation with htp St.Gallen and McCann Erickson in 2008.

Communication of innovativity
With regard to the perception of innovative energy, however, Swiss companies lag behind companies from Japan, Germany and the USA. The innovation ranking of the HSG’s Center for Innovation and htp St.Gallen is intended to shift the focus of Swiss companies more strongly onto the communication of innovativity.
