12 January 2012. For the two Professors of Public Law at the University of St.Gallen (HSG), work in the five-strong body of judges will be a part-time job. Traditionally, a Swiss and an Austrian expert in constitutional law sit on the bench of the Liechtenstein State Court.

The State Court is the country’s constitutional court. It is an autonomous and independent court for matters of constitutional and treaty law in relations with all other constitutional organs. Its main tasks include the protection of constitutional rights and the examination of the lawfulness of acts, treaties and ordinances. Furthermore, it rules on conflicts of competence between courts and administrative authorities, as well as electoral complaints and impeachments of ministers.
