27 March 2009. The media observer Argus reports that in 2008, the University of St.Gallen was present with 5493 articles in the press, on the Internet, and on radio and television at a regional, national and increasingly also at a German-language/international level.

Advertising value of more than CHF 11.6m
This would amount to an advertising value of more than CHF 11.6m if the HSG were to post advertisements on the space occupied by those items. In comparison with the previous year, this constitutes a distinctive increase in clippings by 40 percent (2007: 3909) and in advertising value by 45 percent (2007: CHF 8m).

Crisis as an important factor
One important factor for this increase is the financial and economic crisis, which in the fourth quarter of 2008 made the demand for HSG experts soar. Moreover – and regardless of all the rather elusive factors that influence media coverage - it is also likely to be the result of the intensification of HSG communication and the concomitant quick reaction time, as well as of increased and focused media work, both at a national level and in German-speaking Europe.

Media monitoring
Faculty and staff of the HSG have access to the Argus media monitoring service, which is updated on a daily basis. The "HSG in the media" link will then lead you straight to the database.
