26 March 2015. Shippo is a shipping software which calculates the most favourable shipping prices for small online dealers and automatically generates customs documents. Small dealers are often unable to profit from bulk discounts. This is the disadvantage that the software balances out. About 5,000 dealers use this service and generate turnover. Laura Behrens Wu and Simon Kreuz launched the system in San Francisco in 2013. Shippo is growing every week, 20 employees already work for the firm. This has also enabled Laura Behrens Wu and Simon Kreuz to persuade venture capitalists in Silicon Valley.

Encouragement of founders at the HSG

In previous years, the prize was awarded to Alexander Graubner-Müller (2014), founder of the Kreditech mini-loan platform, to Soma Analytics founder Johann Huber (2013) for his anti-stress app, to DeinDeal.ch founder Adrian Locher (2012), and to Dr. Alexander Ilic (2011), founder of Dacuda, a firm which developed a scanner computer mouse. The founder competition is supported by HSG Alumni and researchers from the Business Innovation profile area at the University of St.Gallen.

The jury of the 2015 founder competition included Prof. Dietmar Grichnik, Director at the Institute of Technology Management (ITEM-HSG) and Professor of Entrepreneurship at the HSG; Diego Probst, Head of Startup@HSG; Manuel Hess, founder coach and member of staff of Startup@HSG; Dorina Thiess, Leader of the SnS Ventures project for the promotion of social and sustainable start-ups; Michael Lorz, Director of Development and representative of the Jackstädt Foundation; as well as Peter Vogel, Director of the Center for Entrepreneurship of the University of St.Gallen.
