2 March 2011. The first discussion will home in on the question, “How many debts does a state need?” The discussion will take place in the Audimax (Room 09-010 in the Library Building) of the University of St.Gallen on Tuesday, 8 March 2011, at 6.15 p.m.

A controversial issue in the Canton ofSt.Gallen
What are debts? Is there an ideal level of indebtedness? What are the consequences of public debt? How can we combat indebtedness? What role does psychology play with regard to the debt issue? What role do the media play?

These and similar questions will be the focus of the discussion, which will last approximately 90 minutes. The issue of public debt is latently present at global, European and national level. In our region, the cost-cutting debate in the Canton of St.Gallen is adding topicality and force to it.

TVO to broadcast recordings
The second discussion forum will take place on Tuesday, 22 March, at 6.15 p.m., again in the Audimax of the University of St.Gallen. The topic of the second debate will again be chosen at short notice and will be made public through the HSG website and the regional media a few days in advance.

TVO will record both discussions and broadcast half-hour summaries of them on Sunday, 13 March, and Sunday, 27 March, from 6 p.m.
