1 December 2008. The 39th St. Gallen Symposium will take place on the Campus of the University of St.Gallen from 7-9 May 2009.

200 students from all over the world will be able to qualify for participation in the Symposium with an essay and to debate this year’s topic, “Revival of Political and Economic Boundaries”, with 600 personalities from trade and industry, academia, society and politics. The authors of the best essays will receive the St.Gallen Wings of Excellence Award worth EUR 20,000.

The participation of 200 students is an essential constituent of the St. Gallen Symposium and makes a crucial contribution to the Spirit of St. Gallen. To qualify for participation in the Symposium, student applicants have to investigate the issue intensively and submit their ideas and visions in the form of a five-to-seven-page essay, a multimedia presentation or a video by 2 February 2009.

Every year, some 1,000 students from more than 60 nations send in their work, thus making the St. Gallen Wings of Excellence Award the biggest student competition of its kind.
