26 May 2009. Good Energies, a leading investor in the renewable energy and energy efficiency industries, sponsors the Chair for Management of Renewable Energies at the University of St.Gallen (HSG) (Switzerland) – the first of its kind at a leading European business school. On 26 May , Marcel Brenninkmeijer, Chairman of Good Energies, handed over the official deed of foundation in an opening ceremony to Rector Prof. Ernst Mohr and Prof. Dr. Rolf Wüstenhagen, who has been appointed by the University of St.Gallen to hold the new Chair, which is co-sponsored by COFRA Holding.

Thus, the new Chair is an excellent example of how the University pursues its objectives in providing scientifically based contributions to solving issues of great social relevance," said Professor Ernst Mohr, PhD, Rector of the University of St.Gallen.

Center of excellence
The Good Energies Chair aspires to become a center of excellence for research and teaching of the business aspects of renewable energy and energy efficiency focusing on innovative business models and dedicated energy entrepreneurship.

“More than 80 % of the world's energy supply today comes from fossil fuels, leading to a variety of challenges ranging from global climate change to energy independence and resource price volatility. At the same time, a large number of technologies is available today to make our buildings, transportation systems and industries much more energy-efficient and supplying them with renewable energy. This is a huge untapped opportunity for business, and the new Chair will contribute to paving the road from 20:80 to 80:20," explained Prof. Dr. Rolf Wüstenhagen, alluding to the fast growing share of renewable energy worldwide.
