Campus - 25.05.2011 - 00:00
24 May 2011. The first day began with the HSG Alumni Forum on “Top achievements in sports and management”. Speakers such as Urs Lehmann (President Swiss-Ski, CEO of Similisan AG), Prof. Dr. Wolfgang Jenewein (Director of the FCI-HSG), Heinrich Fischer (15 times Swiss Rowing Champion and former CEO of the Saurer Group), Sarah Meier (European Figure-Skating Champion) and Jörg Abderhalden (Swiss-Style Wrestling Champion in 1998, 2004 and 2007) led workshops and spoke about their insights.
A toast to the Alma Mater
In the evening, more than 200 alumni forgathered with retired and active professors, former student friends and present-day students for the Alma Mater Night: with live music and a convivial dinner, the HSG family celebrated its reunion. Special tables were laid for alumni who had graduated 20, 30 and 40 years ago. Whether in the new ad hoc Campus Bar, in the ceremonially decorated Mensa restaurant or in the outside bar, alumni and students, older and younger homecomers drank a toast together to their Alma Mater and exchanged thoughts and experiences.
Norway was the guest country at the Alma Mater Night and ran a Viking Ship Bar, where old reminiscences were revived. In his amusing address Arve Solheim, the President of the HSG Alumni Clubs of Norway, looked back on the eventful and moving time that his compatriots and he had spent at the HSG. The Norwegians have a long tradition in St.Gallen: more than 400 students graduated from the HSG.
The HSG Alumni Homecoming Weekend came to an end with the Dies academicus of 12 May, which was again attended by numerous alumni.
