Appointment: Marc Arnold

Prof. Marc Arnold has been an Associate Professor for Corporate Finance since 1 February 2018.

1 August 2018. Prof. Marc Arnold was born on 21 July 1977 in Zurich and is a Swiss citizen.

He completed his bachelor’s and master's degrees in business administration and a major in finance at the University of Zurich from 1998 to 2003, graduating summa cum laude. After graduating, he worked at Credit Suisse from 2004 until 2006, where he was a product structuring specialist in the Trading and Sales department. This department's focus was on the implementation and placement of suitable derivative solutions. Prof. Marc Arnold began the SFI PhD programme in Finance in 2007, graduating summa cum laude in 2011. During this time, he also worked as a teaching assistant for corporate finance at the Institute for Banking and Finance at the University of Zurich. His dissertation “Essays on Corporate Credit Risk” focuses on different aspects of the valuation and management of credit risks.  

Marc Arnold was Assistant Professor of the chair of corporate finance under Prof. Markus Schmid at the Swiss Institute for Banking and Finance at the University of St.Gallen (s/bf-HSG - Schweizerisches Insitut für Banken und Finanzen an der Universität St.Gallen) from 2012 until the end of January 2018. In addition, he also worked as a Visiting Assistant Professor at New York University from 2017 to 2018. He has now been an Associate Professor at the School of Finance, since February 2018.

Research Focus Corporate Finance

To date, the focus of Prof. Marc Arnold's research has been in the area of corporate finance.  He has presented the results of his work at numerous international conferences. His work has been published in the Journal of Corporate Finance, the Journal of Financial Economics, the Review of Finance and the Journal of Financial Markets. In addition, he is also active as a referee for numerous journals and conferences.
