10 March 2017. Under the aegis of the Career & Corporate Services (CSC), the conference has been planned and prepared by six HSG students ever since last August. After the opening panel on "Obstacles as success factors" on 1 March, a further highlight of the series of events took place on 8 March – the careers fair in the Olma Halls. Exactly 93 companies from Switzerland and neighbouring countries were represented by their stands and employees. This year, too, numerous students used the opportunity to become acquainted with enterprises and career prospects.

By students for students

Roberto Pompeo, Jana Huber, Virginia Borruso, Lan-Anh Mai, Ascha Fritsche and Philipp Gunziger are the students who are pulling all the strings this year. Divided up into individual areas of responsibility from IT to marketing and volunteer management, they have been preparing the conference for months and have now been active on the campus for more than three weeks. Their aim is to provide fellow students with an opportunity to start their professional lives successfully. The organisation team is supported by the Career & Corporate Services (CSC) of the University of St.Gallen. In the last few years, the number of companies participating and regions represented has increased, and project manager Nadja Fleisch is pleased that the services thus provided go down well with students.

Careers fair one of the highlights of the academic year

The careers fair is the biggest part of the conference and thus one of the highlights of the HSG’s academic year. The wide variety of industries represented is a crucial factor for many participants. "After some internships, I’ve already been able to gain some experience in the world of work. Now the fair is particularly helpful for me not to lose sight of completely new or different opportunities," says Master’s student Selvi Mert. In student Alexander Maier’s view, the event is particularly interesting for those who see their professional future in Switzerland: "HSG TALENTS is the perfect opportunity for getting a good overview and learning more about the various application processes." Also, all the visitors are treated to a welcoming atmosphere: drinks and snacks were again free of charge this year, and students were able to avail themselves of additional services such as having application photos made or having their CVs reviewed.

Those who have missed the fair will still have numerous options until 22 March 2017. Besides public presentations and workshops with advance registration, they include interviews for internships and initial jobs on the campus of the HSG itself.
