5 September 2017. Collections of books, works of art and writings, among other things, are part of the University's history. In keeping with this year's motto "The Museum Night collects", the HSG will open part of the University Archive and showcase an exhibition that was compiled especially for the Museum Night: "Artists' Letters to the HSG". The University received the letters from the estate of Law Professor Dr. Eduard Naegeli. There had been a lively correspondence between him and the artists at the time of the construction of the University building on the Rosenberg in 1963, for the artists were expected to create works of art which fitted in with the architecture and everyday student life.

Guided art tours on the campus

The student association proArte will organise various guided tours to draw visitors’ attention to the works of art in the HSG's Main and Library Buildings. The University's Main Building is considered to be a significant example of 1960s architecture. Whereas in that building, art plays a counterpoint to architecture, works of art and an architectural diversity of forms complement each other in a narrative fashion. Visitors to the Museum Night can expect to see works by artists in the orbit of Surrealism, painting and sculptures by representatives of Neo-Expressionism, the Italian Transavanguardia, as well as contemporary works of art. The guided tours will start at 4, 6 and 8 p.m. and will take about 45 minutes.

Children as sleuths in search of clues

Children will be able to enjoy a varied programme: they can play detectives and look for clues in and around the Library. Children will be able to join the game in small groups at any time between 5 and 8 p.m. The programme will take between 45 and 60 minutes. Children will be accompanied by trained assistant staff. Of course, parents will also be able to join in if they so wish. Registration is not required.
